:: Hi guys this is the latest update on this guide: Sep 2018

  • Auto-Warg Crit Ranger Build: With the introduction of new contents for Ragnarok Online, players faced more formidable and challenging quests and instances. With these news additions come new monsters, tougher versions of previous MVPs, and even stronger new MVPs. The Auto Warg Crit (AWC) Build Ranger is the most suitable build that is up for the task. An End-game level build Auto Warg Crit Ranger can out damage an End-game build Arrow Storm Ranger or an Aim-Bolt Ranger on MVPs with HPs greater than 10 Million, AWC type is the most effective ranger build against these supped-up monsters.

 AWC Build Ranger Strengths:

       · High Critical Damage

       · Auto Warg Strike Attack

       · Maxed-out Aspd of 193 (7 hits per second)

All of these attributes gives out massive DPS (Damage Per Second)

This ranger build is a good complement to the 18984.pngOld Camouflage Rabbit Hood [1] which boosts Warg Strike Damage among others as refine rate increases.

As of the current update gear set given above is my suggested set for the AWC Build Ranger.

 2113111452_WWSETSAWCRanger.JPG.8fe3ee5d132e0e96c162d160af1f7e4f.JPG

You can also go for a pure Crit damage type AWC Ranger with the use 18856.pngWhite Drooping Eddga, 18934.pngKitsune Ear Bell Ribbon [1]19111.pngLaser of Eagle [1].  As you can see this build which is greatly specialized on killing a monster by hitlocking on them. With critical damage popping from almost every hit done to the target an AWC/Crit Ranger can lash out massive DPS on its prey. Add to this the new Client mechanics on Fear Breeze damage which is now calculated in for critical attack. Headgear choice is quite versatile and is an open option based on your playing style. (See more on suggested gear options under Section IV. Gears List: Equipment Sets and Cards)

However, I would only suggest this build for established players, it’s an expensive type of ranger to build-up. But this is an exciting build to play with as more new content is added to LimitRO the possible gear and card combinations are abound.

Equipment/Gear and Cards List: Auto-Warg Crit Ranger Build

2f03no8.jpg

I’ll just be listing items which I in my opinion you could just concentrate on. There are a lot of possible gears that can be equipped by a Ranger, to make it simple I’ll just list the important ones (based on my opinion). As you progress you can follow my recommendations or should there be new gears that would be introduced and you feel that they would be better then that’s also ok, you can send me pm and suggest it accordingly so I may include it on this guide. Higher Tier number indicates a better option with Tier 3 being the best option to consider.

 [Zohan’sSpecial Tips!]

To reach max aspd and damage you may use a combination of consumable items: (Atk, Aspd, and Stat boosting consumables)

  • Awakening Potion
  • Celermaine Juice
  • Guarana Candy
  • +20 Foods
  • +10 Foods
  • Marhaval Potion (Cash Shop Item)
  • Valhalla Potion

Right now you can also go with the Donation Speed Level 3 Gemstone (Aspd+1), this is an awesome gemstone to get because of its versatility. This gemstone can save a lot of AGI Stat points that you can redistribute to other stats that can boost damage, however if you really want the max damage output then Destruction Level 3 Gemstone +  Almighty Level 3 Gemstone would be the best combo option – this is if you can reach max aspd with foods and potions, etc.

To get additional boost on your DPS and overall Attack Power: (Atk boost consumables)

  • Box of Resentment
  • Aloevera
  • Distilled Fighting Spirit

It’s always nice to have a HP Leech (Hunter Fly or Sniper Cecil MVP Card) and a SP Leech Bow (Dracula Card) they do come handy. A cheap alternative is to have a Thanatos Bow [1] and Rideword Hat [1] combo just in case you would need to leech HP and SP to continue on your quests. Well if you have an RJ Bank or SP Pots then that could also work.

A Golden Thief Bug MVP and Medusa Carded Shield is also a must, best to use a Valkyrie Shield [1] for it gives additional damage reduction from element type damage that would come in handy going up against MVPs. Have a spare White Wing Suit with a Marc Card to protect you from being frozen.

Shadow Gears:

Scatter Shadow Gear Set – each gear gives +5 Stat (gear specific), all must be complete to get the effects.

Item

Effects

  • An armor worn on top of normal armor for additional defense. Can be equipped alone but needs a complete set to have bonus effect. LUK +5

24012.pngScatter Shadow Weapon

  • A glove that can draw the wearer's potential ability. DEX +5
  • A small shield worn on the arm for additional defense. Can be equipped alone but needs a complete set to have bonus effect. VIT +5

24014.pngScatter Shadow Shoes

  • Shoes worn on top of normal shoes for additional defense. Can be equipped alone but needs a complete set to have bonus effect. AGI +5
  • A sacred earring which is believed to protect its wearer. It also draws the wearer's potential ability. INT +5
  • A sacred necklace which is believed to protect its wearer. It also draws the wearer's potential abilities. STR +5

*Update!: Scatter Shadow Armors are now enchantable, awesome! (try to get ATK+% enchants or additional STAT enchants)

Physical Shadow Set: (need to have them upgraded to get boosted effects)

Hi, nice guide there @Zohan but it would be nice if you put a recommended equipment, not only the price/enchant type. Like, is it better using GXB or giant bow? Can I ask why do you use heroic suit?

Is +7 physical shadow weapon(10 atk, 1%atk) give less damage than Scatter Shadow Weapon(dex+5)?

Do you activate fear breeze?(it will overide crit)

Hi, thank you for your questions. I'll try my best to answer them.

1. Recommended equipment are already listed, what would matter now is your working budget. There's a special consideration between a supped up gxbow vs giant bow - I would suggest going gxbow for versatility (AS primarily and hitlock), but hitlock damage giant bow is very promising (as per experience). All you need is to adjust your stats to compensate for the -aspd penalty.

2. Heroic Suit [1] is also a cool item to have, mainly I added it for variety - take note at high refine rates that DS is also pretty awesome for dps.

3. Thanks for bringing up the physical shadow weapon, I will be adding that one accordingly. I might try that one soon to when I get to play next month (still busy at work)

4. Before no, I don't activate fear breeze. But after a discussion on how crit mechanics are to be implemented I can suggest now that yes you can activate fear breeze when hitlocking your target as frear breeze damage will be considered as normal damage and will be affected by crit.

Thanks again for your questions. I'll work on improving this guide, I've been getting a bunch of messages lately to spice up my guide a bit more. Please bear with me on this. ^_^/heh

I tried eggda before, but it doesn't boost much the damage of auto-warg strike that much unlike that of the old camouflage rabbit hood [1], see one of your most valuable asset for dps is warg strike. As of now my hg is only +12, with the endgame gear my auto-warg strike is around 27k-29k, fully buffed and no limit my auto-warg strike gets to around 40-45k on some mvps.

I haven't tried indo cap.

I have mentioned hawkeyes for mid headgear on possible mid hg eq but gambler seal is the best based on actual gameplay. You just have to play around with the stat penalty of gambler seal because its kinda tricky.

Hello. I'm surprised too why so many STR... Warg Strike damage depends only from StatusAtk and WeaponAtk. When using a bow StatusATK = Floor( BaseLevel ÷ 4 + DEX + STR ÷ 5 + LUK ÷ 3 ). So every 5 STR is 1 ATK only and 10 total damage to warg strike.

Here is good calculator https://forums.warpportal.com/index.php?/topic/200278-ranger-damage-calc/

1. I mean like 1st tier and 2nd tier. It listed +9 FAW and +9 HBP but not written which one I should choose for better damage(probably FAW for crit dmg)

2. I think Heroic suit[1] is not giving much damage. +9 WWS with EA11 enchant giving about 40% ranged damage but +16 heroic suit just giving 3% long ranged and I don't think the autocast DS will give much damage(since probably it wont affected by crit increase damage). At +16 heroic chance of DS is 11%(5+refine *5) which give about 4x normal atk damage. That roughly giving 44% bonus damage than normal atk. With normal 1.4x crit damage that bonus will down to 44/1.4 = 31.4%. So probably +9WWS max enchant still out dps heroic

4. So fear breeze affected by crit? I think I read a forum saying it wasn't because its like triple/double attack mechanism. Since fear breeze atk is 1-4x(average 2.5) I agree to put it on.

Another idea, how about sarah earring EA5 or Fatal 5 enchant (10% long range or 14% crit damage)? It probably can outdamage maelstrom + g.scaraba

Also adding sigrun wings (7.6m deluxe hat) which give 2% long ranged mid hg

I am rather curious on why your STR is so high. Is it for the weight capacity or the Atk bonus?

No idea about other setup, but for me if using +9HBP, need more than 90 STR to obtain ATK bonus, so maybe that 100 STR is for this

  • If Base Str >= 90: Attack +30

although getting 90 STR is enough for me. Plus, maybe because of STR also effect range damage by a little bit.

"When using "ranged-type" weapons such as BowsGunsInstruments and Whips, every 5 points of STR provide Status Attack +1"

Maybe for HBP the +30 ATK made it worth it. But the FAW build STR is also nearly as high. These are some radical stats build man. /hmm Interesting.

My Ranger's STR stats is also nearly same as this FAW build. I thought it's normal to have around that value..

Me too. I think 50 str is rather cheap than choosing to up 100++ stats. The weight bonus is pretty good for arrow and spare equipment. With many food buff I almost always have 3k weight in normal circumstance. (considering the ranger doesnt have gym pass)

For stat build consideration:

There will come a time when each DEX base stat would cost more than 5 STR or 3 LUK stat.

Ex:

STR  30   (3)  - you need (3 x 5) 15 points to get another +1 on this stat atk

DEX  110 (24)  - you need 24 points to get another +1 on this stat atk

LUK 120 (32)  - you need (32 x 3) 96 points to get another +1 on this stat atk, but we have no choice but to make it to 120 because of the bonus, yes its expensive on stat points

Special case for ranged weapons, each 5 stat points on STR = 1 S.ATK (Stat-based Atk) 1 stat point on DEX = 1 S.ATK, 3 stat points on LUK = 1 S.ATK

From the example above total damage is relative to your stat-based atk, weapon atk, and other buffs.

Its cheaper to get 5 STR stat than getting 1 DEX stat to get an additional 1 stat-based attack. I do this stat trade build to make my total atk higher by making different combinations. This is in my humble opinion. But I also do welcome your comments so I may improve stuffs to make them better.

The stat-based atk bonus. If I have a good party I allocate the rest of my remaining stat points to STR then the crumbs to VIT. But if I'm going solo, I restat and limit my STR to 90 and put the rest to VIT for survivability (Survivability Build)

So it would be really nice to have that special npc to save different builds. ^_^

Thanks for your question bro. :-)

Exactly, thanks for sharing @Marian

When it all comes to it, its all about that three letter word.

Atk

Whether it may be stat-based, weapon based, and or buff-based.

More of it = more damage (provided that you get the other stuffs on the equation which is Aspd, that's 193 on LimitRO)

So maxed out damage + maxed out attack speed = Om Telolet Om /gg

videos pls!!!

Umm soon, satellite internet is soooooo freaking expensive. /wah

I may fly back to the city next week though so maybe by then.

With better bandwidth and data allowance I may also be able to add some pics, references, videos, etc. on my guides. Please bear with me on this.

Oh I just remembered we were doing some test video of instances with Lai, this is just a demo though not final yet but its close.

I can't link it as my net connection is not opening youtube. I have shown it already to some friends. Please try searching youtube with these search tags:

LimitRO Zohan Morse Cave Instance

(I hope that link works, just got that from google)

It should give you a good reference on my current ranger build. Do try and check it out. But do take note its still on demo stage.

Enjoy /heh

1. I'm currently using HBP right now, budget constraints have prevented me from getting a +9FAW with Fatal 10 enchant to test out. But I do expect the FAW to giveout more damage, hence, better. I'm not 100% sure though I still need to test this out.

2. Thank you for that clear presentation on Heroic Suit [1], based on your calculations it does give us more insight on how the two suits are performing head-on. I have a maxed out +16 White Wing Suit EA11 and I primarily use that, I could say that I just placed Heroic Suit [1] out there for variety and also if your build is having problems on getting the max aspd since it gives +1 aspd right off the bat.

3/4. You kinda missed number 3 and jumped to 4 so I'll follow accordingly. LOL

Yes, there has been an update on crit mechanics, its somewhere here in the forum. @Akin @Sentimental @Lyssky can you help me out guys. Thanks.

Oh yeah that one too, yes. That Sarah gear looks promising. But I still have to test that. Im not quite sure though if EA range damage modifiers affect the damage output of auto-warg strike. I'll try to look into it.

Thank you for your candor... Opppps. Questions.

Hehehe, I do really appreciate them. It helps us make these discussions better. Should there be more do share them with us, we'll do our best to address them.

That update for crit is yet to come since our client doesn't support. Skills like fear breeze and double attack will get affected by crit though we don't know when...

About this, most of our latest Atk % items.. Including the +6% Atk from PoM currently using the wrong script. The one we use now increases the final damage AFTER ALL OTHER MODIFIERS which also includes sAtk. I've reported this and most likely it will be changed into the same script that Bako Tattoo has. Since unlike racial, size, element and class mods.. Critical and Range % includes sATK and is calculated after all the other mods and will probably deal more damage than normal ATK % after the fix is made.
