Cap's Guide to Auto Shadow Spell Shadow Chaser Just to preface this guide, this build can be a decent alternative farmer to those maps where AoE won't make much of a difference, but when used for end-game-ish stuff like mid-tier instances, you will spend a f*ck ton of consumables. The Original Farmer and The Wannabe DPS Going back to its roots, you can use this class to farm pretty much anything. Now that Jack Frost is fixed and can't be spammed anymore (without spending a ton on fixed cast time redux). You'll be taking advantage of high aspd coupled with auto steal. The skill you'll use with auto shadow spell depends on what monster you're trying to farm. Sometimes a single target spell is more advantageous than using an AoE (like auto looting at 100% when there are other monsters on the map besides the one you're targeting). Farming equips aren't that expensive. All you have to make sure is to have high aspd, flee. You can put high STR for increased weight capacity and higher physical attacks. If you just wanna farm, you can focus more on aspd equips like Buffalo Horns or Bakonawa Tattoos. For the sake of this guide, I'm only gonna be focusing on the magic side of things. As for the Wannabe DPS part, that's where things get A LOT more expensive. Not only do you have to make sure you have at least 191 aspd, you also have to raise your matk by a considerable amount. You'll be relying more on your auto casts than your physical damage do kill monsters. STATS STR - You can pretty much leave this at 1, or up to 30. Depends if you still have some points to spend. Just remember that this will be your least wanted stat. You can get your extra weight limit from Gym Passes. (Future updates will also remove the HP/SP regen penalty when you're at 50% weight, and raise it to 70%.) AGI - This can go as high as 120. Or as much as you need to get at least 191 aspd with equips and buffs on. VIT - Just get up to a total of 100, including the bonus you get from Job Levels and equips, for stun immunity. INT - 120. DEX - Only get enough to have a decent cast time. Dex also affects your aspd, but only minimally. LUK - Evert 3 points of this stat gives MATK. GEARS You really have to invest in this build if you want it to actually do something. Now, the chances of this build being used in competitive hunting is slim to none, since it takes some time to get the DPS up. Meanwhile, you have burst damage dealers like Ranger, Genetics, Guillotines Crosses, and recently, Rune Knights. Headgear Upper Hyuke's Black Cat Ears - This is currently my Holy Grail and go-to headgear of choice, no matter the situation. Relatively cheap, but the effects are simply too good to ignore, specially for a class that dishes out multiple magic hits per second. This headgear completely pierces the MDEF of enemies, even MVPs when it procs, for 5 seconds. Right now, Auto Shadow Spell Shadow Chasers are the only ones that can truly utilize this equipment. Other classes rely on manually casting spells on enemies, which most of them have long cast delays and cool downs. You have to keep hitting monsters with magic non-stop for this to proc, which is what an ASS SC is good for. Only downside is there's no slot. Wickebine's Black Cat Ears [1] - Same as above, but slotted. Relatively expensive but definitely worth the investment. Bacsojin Doll Hat [1] - I consider this as my second go-to headgear. Depending on the refine, you can get a pretty high MATK bonus when this hat procs. MATK is increased by 30 multiplied by the refine level. Slotted. But still outclasses by Wickebine's Black Cat Ears in terms of damage when the MDEF pierce procs. Skull Cap [1] - Total of +8% MATK at +7. I wouldn't really recommend getting this hat tho. It sucks lol. But hey, if you already have it, might as well use it. Balloon Hat [1] - When you're starting out. I shouldn't even be including this. Wickebine's Black Cat Ears are about the same price as this hat. And you actually need this refined. Meh. Kettle Hat - If you wanna be a hipster and bank on auto casting Water Ball after auto casting Deluge. It's still fun tho. This has a chance to auto cast level 2 Deluge and level 3 Water Ball with each physical attack. Red Pom Band [1] - For Demi-Human. If you have one that's already high refined, great, otherwise don't spend on this hat if you're planning to run instances with this build. There really aren't that many Demi-Human bosses around. And the other headgears would be more beneficial to you. Fenrir Card - If you have it the use it. Not only does it shorten your fixed cast time (specially beneficial if you're using a crit build), it also adds matk per refine of your headgear. Lichtern Blue CardLichtern Green CardLichtern Red CardLichtern Yellow CardTikbalang Card - Choose your poison. Additional MATK and elemental damage, depending on the card. But if you're mostly using Meteor Storm, might as well choose Red Lichtern. Engkanto Card - If you're ever facing with a Poison monster. Adds 30% damage. This card is also scripted to work with magic attacks. Just not the DEF pierce. Mutant Coelacanth Card - If you're lucky enough to get one. Increases MATK by 2%, and an additional 1% per 2 refines. Downside is it also decreases your Max HP by 1% per 2 refines. Rata Card - MATK +10. Not really worth the investment. Mid Robo Eye - Cheap and reliable. Imperial Feather - If you wanna get more aspd. You must have at least 108 AGI. Sigrun's Wings - A Walmart version of Imperial Feather, but it doesn't have the AGI requirement. Black Devil's Mask - All stats +2. I've still yet to see the allure of this headgear. It's hard AF to make and I don't think the effects are worth that much trouble. But hey, if you have it, use it. Low CD in Mouth - The staple of auto cast SCs. Not only does it deal additional damage with the bolts it casts, it also helps proccing your Boots and Wickebines. Golden Fish - If you feel like you don't lack auto casts anymore. +10 matk and +2 all stats. Rainbow Scarf - Additional MATK. Basically, you really want a CD in Mouth. That's what you should aim for. If you don't have it yet, just use whatever it is you have on hand that will increase your MATK. Armor Robe of Flattery [1] - Once the rest of 16.1 is released, this robe will pretty much become the go-to robes of Magic users. +150 MATK by just being level 140 and above. Not to mention the enchants are powerful. Downside is you have to have the item refined to at least +7 to get the minimum effects of the enchants. Exerion Suit - This is my current go-to armor. I have one of every kind. My main one is INT/MATK/MATK. You can also make an elemental one with 2 MATK reactors. It's pretty much mix and match. Excellion Suits are fairly cheap, and the elemental reactors and MATK reactors are also fairly cheap. Cursed Mail [1] - If you're really rich. +10% MATK along with other bonuses. Heroic Hidden Cloth [1] - A decent armor. MATK +10% when it procs, which is quite often. Also adds 20 Crit Rate. A good armor for a crit build. There's really not much variance you can use. As long as it adds MATK. Nightmare Amon Ra Card - Really awesome if you're up against Demons and Undead. Which is what makes more than half of the content in RO. Entweihen Crothen Card - MATK +100. That's about it. Bijou Card - MATK +10% and immunity from Frozen status. Byorgue Card - ATK/MATK +10% when you're a Rogue Class, which you are. Any elemental cards or status resist cards to counter the monster you're facing. Sometimes choosing a defensive card for your armor is better than choosing an attack one. What good are you when you're dead lol. Weapon Old Parasol [3] - This sword is just awesome. If you can get high aspd with a sword equipped, then this one is pretty much recommended. Not really that high base MATK bonus, but it does increase per refine. It can also be enchanted once (up to Spell 9). Not to mention there are 3 slots. Elemental Sword [3] - Next best thing you can wear. If you wanna focus more on using bolts as your main spells. This sword will melt your target. But this only works for 1vs1 cases tho. Best used when you copied Cold Bolt and use Auto Shadow Spell level 1. Faceworm Queen Leg [2] - A really nice dagger with a relatively high MATK for daggers. Can also cast level 1 Earthquake. Which is pretty much useless since the formula is based on your ATK. I try to avoid using this dagger tho. If you have an Old Parasol at at least +7, then you'll be leaving this dagger in the dust when it comes to MATK bonus. (Update: I actually use this dagger more now when just farming in general.) Futsumitama [2] - Quite expensive. Has higher base MATK (+160) bonus than FQL. This is a case of if you have it, use it. Thanatos Dagger [1] - MATK +130 and INT +6. The downside is you'll always be losing HP. Infinity Dagger [1] - MATK +100, but this can be enchanted with Spell Enchants. It has the potential do be a decent MATK dagger. The downside is it's account bound. Infinity Bow [1] - YES! Shadow Spell now works with Bows. It just sucks that the only Bow that has a base MATK bonus can't be work by Rogue Classes. Enchant this with Spell Enchant. This is like the best Bow we can use at the moment. Gust Bow [2] - Next best thing. No MATK bonus but auto casts level 5 Wind Blade, and has 2 slots. Moonlight Dagger - Recovers 3 SP per attack. This includes magic damage too. So you'll be pretty much regenerating SP like crazy. Timeholder Card - MATK +20% Immortal Wind Ghost Card - MATK +10% and has a chance to cast level 5 Killing Cloud when performing magic attacks. Magic Racial Cards. You can't go wrong with them. I have like 3 of almost every kind. Corruption Root Card or Realized Corruption Root Card - Actually good for farming/mobbing. Red Eruma Card - A chance of inflicting Curse on enemies when they're hit with magic attacks. Useful for crown control. Octopus Card - Another crown control card, but this time it inflicts Blind with your magic attacks. Sidewinder Card - If you're using a sword and still lacking some aspd. Manananggal Card - Recovers 1 SP per attack. I'm not sure if it officially works with magic too, like with Moonlight Dagger, but here in Limit, it only works with physical attacks. Shield Cursed Mad Bunny - The Main Shield. This nullifies the aspd penalty you get from wearing shields with its +3 flat ASPD bonus. Also adds +5% MATK, and reflects 10% of every melee damage (which is important since it gives reflected damage is also included in the chance to proc your auto casts, barring Auto Shadow Spell). Mad Bunny [1] - This doesn't have the ASPD bonus, but it is slotted. If you're willing to spend more on AGI/ASPD consumables, then you can opt for this shield instead, otherwise the non-slotted variety will do wonders. Valkyria's Shield [1] - Still one of the best shields in-game because of the elemental redux. You can always go with no shield on in case you don't have a Cursed Mad Bunny and can't raise your ASPD to decent numbers. Standard Racial cards if you're using a slotted shield. GTB if you need it. But you'll mostly be fine without a card. You can pretty much use any shield you want, as long as you can get your ASPD up to 191+. You can also go with no shield if you're struggling with aspd. Garment Fallen Angel Wing [1] - Refined to at least 7 and get Spell enchants. Heroic Backpack [1] - A +7 backpack is better than a +0~+6 FAW. I like having both of them. FAW for attacking and Backpack for Defending. Giant Faceworm Skin [1] - Only get this at high refines. +10 or above. You'll be mainly using this for a Nightmare Ancient Mummy Card. Exerion Wing - Refine to +7 and have 3x Reactor 202. Only used for SP Recovery. Antique Book Card - Your standard MATK garment card. Nightmare Ancient Mummy Card - +3% damage to your fire magic every refine. Also has +15% neutral resistance. Use it if you're mostly on Fire auto casts. Salamander Card - +40% more damage to Meteor Storm. Pretty meh to be honest. You have more spells on your auto cast list that you'll benefit more from an Antique Book Card than this. Flamel Card - Great for recovering using slim pots. I like to compound this on a +7 Backpack. Farming while Linked is a dream when using this Card and Ranked Slims. Randel Card - Enables level 3 Auto Guard. Compound it on a different garment. Cast Auto Guard and switch back to your main one. Shoes Temporal INT Boots [1] - Spell Enchant with Runaway Magic and nothing else. You can get away with Lucky Day, but Runaway Magic is really the best option since it amplifies one of your auto casts greatly. Temporal INT Boots - Same enchant with above, or even Lucky Day. Cheaper. And you can really go without a card for your shoes. Temporal AGI Boots - Spell Enchant with Runaway Magic or Lucky Day. I mostly use this for farming. Even without foods and just level 3 Agi Up, I can still get 193 aspd without sacrificing my other MATK gears. Fallen Bishop Card - Even if you aren't fighting Demi-Humans or Angels, the card still adds +10% MATK. Nightmare Verit Card - MATK +5% at below +6. Another +3% When refined to +7. And another +3% at +9. Accessories Evil Spirit's Silk Glove [1] - Auto Caster's wet dream. Casts Psychic Wave, Frost Nova, Scream. Also let's you use Spider Web. Broken Heart [1] - A cheap alternative to Evil Spirit's Silk Glove. You must wear it with Gentle Heart to activate the auto casts. The only downside is you consume 2 accessory slot. You forfeit proccing Psychic Wave when you switch one accessory with Pendant of Harmony for some recovery. Gentle Heart [1] - Same as Broken Heart. Alchemy Glove [1] - Amplifies Fire damage. Auto Casts Fire Ball with physical attacks, and Fire Bolt with magical attacks. Pendant of Harmony - Auto Casts level 1 Renovatio and Sanctuary. Get this item in your inventory. Switch accessories once Renovatio procs. This is specially good for long farming sessions or in instance runs to alleviate your potion consumption. Silversmith Bracelet [1] - If you ever need to Spell Break something. City Center Map [1] - A really useful accessory when farming or going solo. Compound with Creamy Card. Scaraba Card - There's really not much to choose from for Accessory Cards. Unless Moscovia Cards get released any time soon. Shadow Gears Shadow Chaser Shadow Weapon - Not really useful when worn by itself. Shadow Chaser Shadow Shield - MATK +2% when worn with the Shadow Weapon, along with other bonuses. I'm still on the fence about using a Shadow Casher set on a Shadow Spell SC, but there's really not much any other choice out there. I also have a Rogue Set, now I'm just waiting for the Thief Set to be released. Wizard Shadow Armor - Useless when worn alone. Wizard Shadow Shoes - +20% damage to Lord of Vermillion, Meteor Storm, and Storm Gust. Scatter Shadow Earring - +5 INT Physical Shadow Earring - If you're still missing that extra umph for your ASPD. Although you're gonna need to +7 this to get a measly +3% ASPD lol. But hey, maybe the difference between 192 and 193 ASPD is that 1%. Donate Gears Upper Speed Lv3 - 4x on an upper CE. +1 aspd per Gemstone. Mid/Low Almighty Lv3 - 4x on Mid and Low. I find stat Gems more useful than damage ones when you have to share them for all your characters and you can't exactly afford to get multiple sets. Garment/Wings/Amulet Star Stone(Matk) - If you're ever lucky enough or rich enough to get MATK star stones. Only feasible if you're playing other magic characters on your account. SKILLS There are only a handful of skills you're gonna need. The rest if up to you to decide. I'll just note the most important ones. Plagiarism - Your main source of damage. Can copy up to second class skills. Preserve - Prevents the skill your copied via Plagiarism to be overwritten. Be sure to cast this constantly. And cast this immediately after you've been revived. Reject Sword - Halves the damage you take and reflect it back. Tunnel Drive - Allows the character to move at half movement speed while in Hiding status. Chase Walk - Like Cloaking but you can't be revealed. You can still take damage from AoEs tho. If you are Linked, you can move really really fast while in Chase Walk. Gank - Auto casts steal. Useful for farming. Reproduce - Let's you copy up to 3rd class skills. Skills that you've copied via this skill will have 2x the SP consumption when used. Auto Shadow Spell - Chosen Magic spell learned from Plagiarism and Reproduce will have a chance of casting automatically with every physical attack. Those are pretty much all the notable skills you need in order to play this build. Other skills will depend on how you use the character. Consumables White Slim Potion - Ranked or not, this is still one of the best healing items you can use, specially when used in conjunction with other healing item boosters. Mastela Fruit - Heals well and light weight. It's just they're kinda expensive. Mora Mandarin - One of the best SP healing item you can find. Kinda hard to farm tho. Strawberry - A lot of monsters drop this. Either farm them or buy them. Grape Juice - Recovers a decent amount of SP. HP Increase Potion (Large) - Increases your Max HP. SP Increase Potion (Large) - Increases your Max SP. Concentrated White Potion Z - Increases HP regeneration rate. Vitata 500 - Increases SP regeneration rate and Max HP. Concentrated Ceromain Soup - +10% ASPD. Berserk Potion - Increases ASPD greatly. Regeneration Potion - Increases heal rate of all recovery items by 20% for 30 minutes. Small Life Potion - Recovers 5% of your Max HP every 5 seconds for 10 minutes. Big Defense Potion - 3% resistance to physical attacks for 3 minutes. Big Magic Defense Potion - 3% resistance to magical attacks for 3 minutes. Fire Resist PotionCold Resist PotionEarth Resist PotionThunder Resist Potion Holy Elemental Scroll - Endows your armor with Holy Element for 5 minutes. Undead Elemental Scroll - +20% resistance from Fire, Earth, Water, Wind for 5 minutes. Does not stack with Holy Elemental Scroll. Guarana Candy - Casts level 5 Increase Agility. Those are the consumables I always have in my inventory. SP items are a MUST! Your SP will constantly be brought to 0 because of Runaway Magic. ~TBC~ VIDEOS Example of a Crit Build: Build not viable anymore because of the Shadow Chaser Job Improvement update from kRO. DEX Build Build only semi-viable. Unless you wanna go hybrid Triangle Shot build. ~More vids to come~
  2. Cap's Noob Guide to Bow SC I've mentioned to a few people before that I'll make a guide on how to build a Bow Shadow Chaser. It's a miracle I wasn't feeling lazy. Before I start, I wanna preface this by saying unless you have 999999999999999 safe ores and cash shop ores, it would still be hard to be competitive in the PVM/MVP scene against those end-game geared Rangers, Genetics, Guillotine Crosses, and other MVP classes out there. This build requires a ton of investment for you to do significant damage. I wouldn't recommend this build to new players. This build is more like a luxury build. Not really for people who are on a tight budget. Now, don't get me wrong, you can still build a Bow SC with budget gears, just don't expect your character to do high damage. Okay, moving on!!!! STATS First, we're gonna talk about your stats. There're only 2 stats that you should be worried about. Those stats directly affects the damage of the two main skills you're gonna be using as a Bow SC. Mainly, Agi and Dex. I recommend to have at least 120 points allocated each for Agi and Dex. Your stats should be like (these are base stats): STR - 30~50 AGI - 110~120 VIT - 60~90 INT - 80~90 DEX - 120 LUK - 40~77 GEARS Now on to Gears... There really isn't that much option for Bow SCs. We get our damage mostly from our Headgear, Weapon, and Shadow Set. Upper: Old Shadow Crown [1] - There really isn't that much choice when it comes upper headgear. This is where our main damage boost will come from. Every 2 refine will increase Triangle Shot damage by 25%. Get this to at least +6 for +75% damage. Not to mention that ATK and MATK bonus you get for every refine. Duneyrr/Dark Pinguicula Card - +10 ATK. Pharaoh Card - -30% SP consumption. Arc Angeling Card - +100% SP recovery if base LUK is 77 or above. Any status resist cards. Essence of Evil Concentration 3 - +4 DEX, +8 HIT, -4 LUK. Good if you're lacking HIT for those high FLEE monsters Essence of Evil Force 3 - +4 STR, +12 ATK, -4 INT Mid: Robo Eye - There aren't really that much Mid HGs to choose from. Eye of Darkness - Resists Blind Status and gives +1 Dex. It's important to have some blind resist if you're fighting a monster that inflicts the status. Not only is your vision impaired, but your Hit will suffer as well, making you mostly likely miss your attacks. Your Flee will also decrease. Dark Blindfold - Same as Eye of Darkness without the Dex bonus. Black Devil Mask - +2 to all Stats. Not really worth the investment, in my opinion. Sigrun's Wing - +1 flat ASPD. More ASPD isn't a bad thing. Lower: Spiked Scarf - +35 ATK with -2% Max HP penalty. Father's White Moustache - +20 ATK Pirate Dagger - +5 ATK. Meh, you can do better really. CD In Mouth - Casts random bolt skills when doing physical attacks. This works on bows too, but you have to be 7 cells or less from your target. This is useful if you're up against instances where you have to kill plant defense protocol monsters (Bakonawa and Bangungot Instances to name a few.) Armor: Excellion Suit - +10 Vit if you're over level 130, Max HP +4% every 3 refines. This is like my go-to armor of choice. STR ATK ATK or STR ATK ASPD are decent choices of enchants. You can also have a lot of this with different elements. Definitely cheaper than other armors if you wanna have multiple elements in your inventory. Not to mention it combos with the Wing for -20% after cast delay. Heroic Hidden Cloth [1] - Max HP/SP +5%, Increases Triangle Shot damage by 10%, and a chance to increase ATK and MATK by 10% with every physical attack. For me, this is like the second best armor you can wear. They're hard to find tho, and expensive AF. Valkyrian Armor [1] - +1 to all Stats, Unbreakable, and +50% resist to Stun when worn by Thief Classes. This is still a good armor to wear. You can have multiple of these and card them with different elements. Porcellio Card - +25 ATK, -5 DEF. A good start-up card. Marc Card - Protects from Freeze. Evil Druid Card - Gives Undead property. This is really the only way you can protect yourself from getting Stone Cursed since you can't wear a shield. Just be careful if you're in a party, your priest won't be able to resurrect you should you die. Ghostring Card - Enchants armor with Ghost property, -25% HP Recovery. Good for tanking neutral attacks (Earthequake, Hell's Judgment, monster normal attacks). Any elemental cards. Essence of Evil Concentration 3 - +4 DEX, +8 HIT, -4 LUK. Essence of Evil Force 3 - +4 STR, +12 ATK, -4 INT Weapon: Crimson Bow [2] - +(Refine*Refine) ATK, +5 ATK every 10 Base Level above level 70. In my opinion, this is the best bow you can get for your Bow SC. The only downside is you have to refine it to at least +12 for it to shine. iRO peeps have tested damage against Catapult in this thread. Catapult [2] - +2% Triangle Shot damage every refine, +2% increase SP consumption of skill per refine. Not really worth getting imo. The additional SP consumption is also a huge drawback. Not to mention it only adds 2% damage per refine, not like a GXB that adds +5% per refine with Arrow Storm. Well, if you really need a bow and can't get an over-upped Crimson Bow, I guess this could be the better substitute. Infinity Bow [1] - Nothing really special, but the enchants are promising. If you're patient enough, you can get a bow with EA 16 (+32% ranged ... Downside is they're account bound. Upgrade Bow [1] - +7 ATK per refine, +2% ranged damage per refine, +10 ATK per 10 base level when base level 70 or higher. Let's just say you have a +16 Upgrade Bow, you'll have a bonus of +328 ATK from refining it, +0~88 variable ATK per attack, and +32% ranged damage. Is it worth it tho? I don't know, and I don't wanna ever find out because I just made a +15 Crimson Bow... Memory of Thanatos Card - Increases damage based on the target's DEF. Thana is bae. White Knight Card - +20% damage to medium and large monsters, +15 ATK. Archer Skeleton Card - +10% ranged damage. Garment: Fallen Angel Wing [1] - Effects too many to mention lol. Enchant with Expert Archer for additional Ranged damage. Excellion Wing - Awesome combo for Excellion Suit. 3x ATK Enchants are the best option. 3x Reactor 202 for +300% SP recovery if you have troubles with SP and don't wanna consume too much SP items. Cloak of Casualty [1] - I don't even wanna mention this. But think of this as FAWs on steroids. The only thing is you have to over upgrade this garment to really feel its effects. It's expensive AF! Heroic Backpack [1] - Good if you're on a budget. Kinda cheap-ish. Menblatt Card - +1% Ranged damage every 10 base DEX. Cheapest damage card there is. Deviling Card - +50% resistance to neutral property, but -50% resistance to the other properties. Flamel Card - +200% heal from Red, Yellow, Orange, and White Potions. I have a lot of Flamel garments, don't judge. Infinite Chimera Card - +8% Max HP, +4% Max SP, +10% ATK/MATK when compounded with Infinite Vagabond Wolf Card Footgear: Temporal DEX Boots [0]/[1] - Really, I feel like there's no other option. Enchant with Expert Archer and Hawkeye. Applause Sandals [1] - Haven't really tested if this is better than a pair of DEX Boots with Hawkeye enchant. The after cast delay redux is awesome tho. Can't really card this other than with Amon Ra. Verit/Green Ferus/Matyr Card - Depends on you really. I'd go for Verit for that added SP Outrageous Cookie Card - +1% ATK/MATK, -2% Max HP. +1% ATK/MATK, -2% Max HP every 2 upgrades. Infinite Vagabond Wolf Card - +10 ATK, +10 ATK when refined to +7, +15 ATK when refined to +9. Accessories: Pendant of Maelstrom [1] - +1 to all Stats, +6% ATK/MATK, chance to autocast level 1 Maelstrom when magically attacked (basically a 3x3 mini Land Protector). Bakonawa Agimat Tattoo - +7% ATK, +10% ASPD Physical Enhancer Ring [1] - +5% ATK Dex Glove [1] - +1 Hit for ever 10 base DEX, +1% Ranged damage when base Dex is over 110 Gold Scaraba Card - +20 ATK, -1% Max HP I can't really think of any other accessory card that would be beneficial to this build. Shadow Gears: Shadow Chaser Shadow Weapon - +20% Triangle Shot damage, +5% Triangle Shot damage for every refine. Shadow Chaser Shadow Shield - Effects aren't really important. +20% Triangle Shot damage, +2% ATK/MATK, +2% Ranged damage when worn with Shadow Chaser Shadow Weapon. If you have donate costumes, it's up to you which gems you'd like. I have ASPD gems on my donate because I mainly share that with my GX and my Ranger. I also have an all-stat one but I prefer the ASPD one to help with hitlocking if needed to. SKILLS There really is only 1 major skill that you need to worry about, and that's Triangle Shot. The others are mostly for support/debuff that are useful when doing instances alone. I'll highlight my most used skills Triangle Shot - Fires 3 Arrows to a target and has a chance to knock them back. This skill scales with your AGI. That's why it's important to have high AGI, not only for ASPD, but also for this skill. Emergency Escape - Needs 1 Special Alloy trap to cast. You basically backslide from your target and leave a trap behind, rendering them immobile. This is a nice combo if you reproduce Ranger's Aimed Bolt. Aimed Bolt deals multiple hits when the target is trapped. Can deal high damage. Maelstrom - A 3x3 mini Land Protector. Manhole - Traps whoever walks into it for up to 15 seconds. Useful for trapping mobs you don't wanna fight with. Feint Bomb - Just a nice FU skill. You enter into hide status and backs away from your original position, leaving a mirage of yourself that will explode, dealing AoE damage. Bloody Lust - Forces everyone who step on it into Berserk Status. Free LK card lol. I mainly got it just to support other ctrl+click classes. Reproduce - Well, it reproduces a skill. Plagiarism - Copies up to 2-2 skills. Reject Sword - Reduces damage taken and reflects it back. Preserve - Prevents your copied skill from getting overwritten. Notable skills to copy: Severe Rainstorm - Over all, this is the best Ranged AoE you can copy. This deals more DPS than Arrow Storm, and can trigger Hawkeye enchant more frequently. I also prefer this since the target is semi-hitlocked for the duration of the skill and you can then spam Triangle Shot. Aimed Bolt - This is more like a trick shot than anything else. Great for bragging in PVP, but there's really no usage in PVM. You have to trap your target using Emergency Escape, then cast Aimed Bolt. The drawback is the trap will disappear if Aimed Bolt hit. So unless you can 1 shot your target, this is generally a useless combo. You'd get more DPS if you trap your target and spam Triangle Shot. Arrow Storm - Just for the lols, why not. Frost Nova - When you wanna escape. Or Freeze a target and equip Wind Arrows for more damage. Triple Attack - just for the lols. Useful for hitlocking. Not much else. Claymore Trap - I'm really running out of ideas on what useful skills to copy. Here's my current skill build. You can customize your skills as long as you have the important ones. Items Must-haves: Makeover Brush Paint Brush Face Paint Surface Paint Arrows - Every kind and every element lol Bow SCs don't really need that much consumable really. But your main arsenal should be: Berserk Potion - ASPD!!!!!!!!!! Enriched Celermine Juice - MOAR ASPD!!!!!!!!! Guarana Candy - Level 5 Agi Up, Concentration Potion effect. Authoritative Badge - Increases Movement Speed. Speed Potion - VRRROOOOOMMMM!!!!!! Holy Elemental Scroll - Endows your armor with Holy level 1. Undead Elemental Scroll - +25% resistance to Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. Hwergelmir's Tonic - +10 DEX. Either the normal version or from WPS. WPS is easier to get actually. Since only Lady Tanee drops the normal version, and it's more expensive to make these than just buy the WPS version. Steamed Desert Scorpions - +10 AGI. Dragon Breath Cocktail - +10 INT. Just for cast time in general. Stew of Immortality - +10 VIT. So as to be not so squishy. Anodyne - Grants Endure effect. Resists Potions - +20 Resistance from the corresponding element, -15% resistance from the element it's weak against. At least have every elemental resist potion in your inventory. Cursed Water - Endows weapon with Shadow property. Royal Jelly - Heals HP/SP, cures almost all statuses. I'm addicted to this shit. Those are the items I usually being in my inventory. Other optional items are: Drosera Herb Stew - +20 AGI Siroma Iced Tea - +20 DEX Minor Brisket - +20 VIT Warg Blood Cocktail - +20 INT. If you really wanna get instant cast. But it's a waste really. When Hawkeye procs, you'll have instant cast anyways. Box of Resentment - +20 ATK Box of Gloom - Casts level 1 Improve Concentration for additional DEX and AGI Box of Thunder - Increases movement speed. Distilled Fighting Spirit - +30 ATK. Doesn't stack with other +ATK consumables. Takoyaki - +20 ATK/MATK, +10 LUK. Doesn't stack with +10 LUK food for some reason. This will just override your +10 LUK food, so instead of having +10 LUK for 30 minutes, you'll get only 10 minutes. Aloevera - Casts provoke level 1 on yourself. Yggdrasil Berry - Fully restores HP/SP. Has a 3 minute cool down here in Limit, so use wisely. Yggdrasil Seed - Heals 50% of HP/SP. Also has a long ass cool down. Military Ration B - +33 HIT This my SC currently. I'll post some videos when I record stuff. Idk what to record tho. Maybe some instances runs. I went with an ET run the other day. My bow was only +14 before. I'm happy to say that with my set up, you'll be doing 50K+ damage per hit of Triangle Shot on MVPs. That's 150K+ damage every .5 seconds. And on MVPs that have really beefy defense (like Ifrit and Valk), I did 70K each hit (200k+ total damage). I'm now curious what my damage would be if I have full buffs and full consumables (and if only I have a +16 Old Shadow Crown ). VIDEOS Awakened Ferre Valkyrie Fenris Fenrir (More videos to come. (I find this interesting, although there aren't really any bows that gives MATK) Reproduce SP Penalty of using skills copied through Reproduce will be reduced. From +100% SP Consumption To +30% SP Consumption Preserve Preserve skill buff will not be canceled when the character switches zones or logs out. The devs said the Awakening System addressed the issue above, and they adjusted the characteristics of ABs. They also said something about enhancing Adoramus by a new skill. This question is about possible new costumes/job sprites. They answered there's no definite plan. Although they were talking about adding new colors (We already have 699 of those here lol) The question is about Bio Nightmare and how it's only certain classes than can farm there. They answered they are trying to balance the dungeon to suit party-oriented play styles, but they worry that it might be too difficult. They will continue to review the situation. Idk what this is about tbh. lol. But I think it's talking about job classes not having similar DPS, and the possible introduction of a "damage meter"? This is about wings costume not being properly implemented for Doram race. They said devs are working on re-adjusting them to fit Dorams. The question is about the improvement of the inventory system. Devs said they are thinking of ways to improve the inventory system, but since the client is so old, it is difficult to improve. They can't promise anything will change immediately, but they are working on some improvements. The question is about if there will be a change in exp table when the Awakening system is implemeted. Seems like content where you can buy things with rewards you get from a quest. They asked if they can be bought by zeny. Devs said they will introduce a new system that will let players buy things with zeny (I'm assuming for that specific quest thingy) This one talks about the downside of classes that use projectiles in terms of weight. They also said they are discussing whether to remove Homunculus AI completely to prevent AFK Homunculi overcrowding some fields and dungeons. This one is about how some gears don't look as good when characters are wearing them. Devs said they will take action if it gives players errors. Arrow Crafting will receive a new UI to make it easier. This one talks about the legal system of selling character names, character and account deletion. Not really important to us lol. This is about revamping some Guild Dungeons. This one is about improving the UI of some skills. About magical attacks in siege. Shadow Chaser as a job Stat builds Skills and Skill Builds Gears Important Buffs Consumables Strategy Good quality SC videos from iRO Prologue First off, this is a WoE guide. So whatever that works in PvP may or may not work here. This guide has been compiled by the author after playing SC for a time and also seeing what other SC are doing on official servers and whatnot. This guide is in no ways complete or comprehensive. Just a start guide since all popular forums are lacking a detailed SC guide. Some of the SC on this server are quite bad and a lot of people are following them in a way so if anyone wants to play the job as to how it is being played should read this guide in detail and try to follow it as much as you possibly can. Shadow Chaser as a job Shadow Chaser or hereby ‘SC’ is the most annoying job to play against. The job has skills which makes you as good as a Poring if they proc on you. Also their chasing potential against enemy ecallers as well has hard disable is quite high. If played well, a single SC can debuff and dispel an entire guild who is waiting to attack the pre cast. And they can do it without any MVP cards (Totally Awesome!!). A lot of people believe that SC are broken in the current patch and I think they are. More details will come to light one we go ahead into the guide. Stat Build To understand the SC stat build, you will need to understand the skill Masquerade first. Masquerade has the following formula: (updated EP 14.1 patch) Success Chance={{Caster Base level/10+ random number between [Caster DEX/12) or (Caster DEX/4)]+(Caster Job level)+(Skill level x10) - < (Target Base level/10)+[Random number between [(Target AGI/6) or (Target AGI/3)]+(Target LUK/10)+[(Target Maximum Weight-current weight)/100%]>] Base Success rate: (Skill level+ DEX/20)% From this you can infer: High DEX to successfully Masq people Max Job level and Base level Decent amounts of STR, AGI, LUK to be having some resistance to Masq (Some SC play with low STR AGI LUK builds so they become food for other SC which is pointless because if the guild loses an SC early on there is nobody to tank and debuff and disturb people anymore and the opposing guild gets a free reign to stomp. Now, the second most important part before we go to the stat build for SC. Instacast, Instacast, Instacast. SC needs to have instacast on his/her spells because you need to debuff people fast and move on to the next target. It will be funny if you take forever to debuff one guy while the other wipes your guild. All the SC who don’t follow this, please do so or else there is no point playing this job. You are a burden to your guild and the job as well. Instacast is obtained in Renewal by the following formula: DEX*2+INT=530 This means total DEX that you have from foods, gears and base stats and INT from gears, foods and base stats should be substituted in that formula to get the magic number of 530. It’s very necessary that you have instacast to be effective in WoE. In the videos that will follow this guide you will see a few SC jumping and disabling one person with instacast and moving on to the next target and so on. So a detailed stat build isn’t possible to be shared or given because the consumables that you will use are varied from player to player. Check the consumables section for more info on this Skills and Skill Builds: Shadow chasers important skills: Chase Walk: 2nd Job Skill. Very very useful with Soul Link as it increases your movement speed. Masquerade Weakness, Gloomy, Ignorance: 3rd Job Skill. The only 3 masquerades that you should ever bother levelling as the other effects are just a weaker version of these. Goes through FCP. Weakness removes HP, weapon and shield. Makes RG a walking punching bag since it removes all shield buffs an RG generally has (reduces 40% redux on support characters, easy life for your killers) Gloomy removes mounts from RK/RG and also Homunculus. No dragon or gryphon on RK/RG means 25% less damage from spear type weapons and no Dragon Breath. Ignorance: Silence the target for 15 seconds. Goes through GTB. Perfect for any job that anyone plays. Silence actually screws them and they just stand there humbled ready to die. Intimidate: Very useful again as it lets you copy FSK or Flying Side Kick which is your mobility skill (Kinda like Blink dagger from Dota2. It can also pass status from equipped status arrow like Sleep, Frozen, etc) Preserve: Preserves the last learned skill from Intimidate for 10 minutes and under Soul Link makes you immune to Dispel without a GTB ( Sick right?) Reject Sword: Reduces sword and dagger damage and reflects damage from that source at 75% chance. (Main reason why killers in server don’t use Dagger or Sword type weapons. The reflect will kill them) Reproduce: This skill allows you to copy 3rd job skills. Best options are Earth Drive or Crazy Weed. Allows you to remove ground targeted spells like Vacuum, GX Poisons, Land Protector, Thorn Traps, Killing Cloud, etc. Earth Drive also allows you to reduce Aspd of the breaker who is trying to break your emperium. Full Strip: The old school disable that all Stalkers used. Removes Weapon, HG, Armor and Shield. Blocked by FCP, so isn’t kinda useful. Strip Accessory: Divests the accessories that are being equipped. Kinda good against chars whose accessories are very vital for their build. (100 Hard Mdef Chars start freezing without their very important Black Roasry[1] Bloody Lust: AoE Circle on the ground which puts al enemies in a Berserk State. Use this while breaking the Emperium to avoid the enemy from casting any spells around you like Cursed Circle of Sura, Suicidal Destruction of Mechanic,etc Manhole: Hardest disable that an SC can get. Makes a hole on the ground which holds the player (ally and enemy inclusive) for the duration. Man-holed player becomes invulnerable to anything except Shadow Form. Shadow Form: Its an SC version of Crescent Elbow and Deathbound but it’s highly dangerous. You can’t use items and skills during its duration and if anyone uses revealing skills on you, it gets removed. Kinda tough to pull off and you don’t define your build around that anyways. Body Paint: The SC revealing skill. Copied Skills: From Intimidate its FSK. Mobility for an SC is highly important. From Reproduce its usually a ground skill remover like Earth Drive or Crazy Weed. ( Crazy weed has point target and Earth Drive is no target AoE. It depends on player to player on what to use) Gears and Cards First of all Maya Purple is the best card and the most important card that an SC can and should have all the time. BoS has a cooldown time and as a Shadow Chaser, you need to see the ones blacked up. Without this card in your HG, you really should quit this game and play Pinball because if you don’t understand the importance of this card, you don’t understand this game and WoE. Listing good choices for gears and their cards: Any items which don’t give buff on refine should never be refined. Period. Headgear TOP: +12 Cat Ear Beret [1] with Bungisingis card 16% redux at +12 so why not? +0 Gigantic Majestic Goat (Def) No slot, 12% Def +0 Abysmal Knight Helm [1] 10% Redux and a slot for your Maya Purple card. Best for those who don’t have Donation Costume Headgear I Love China Dex+3 10% Redux is also a good choice Headgear Mid: Blush of Gloom 3% Redux Headgear Low: Gentleman Pipe 2% Redux or Handkerchief in mouth 3% redux(whenever it gets implemented) Armor: +6 or +9 WoE suit [1] with Marc card. (Evil Druid is also an option but since most of the RK are using fire convertors/endows it is slightly suicidal) +0 WoE Boots [1] with Matyr/Green Ferus card. (You don’t need the +9 Boot with Firelock since an SC has abysmal SP pools and 10% of less is still less. And you take less damage from Tiger Cannon of Sura with a Matyr/Green Ferus so that’s a win-win from a mathematical sense) +0 WoE Manteau [1] with Flamel/Noxious card (Flamel for the Soul Link buff. With ranked White potions it’s possible to heal to full in 4-5 pots. Haven’t tested with regeneration potion from event shop but it will be full HP in 3-4 pots. The Noxious card is kinda unnecessary because the potting helps you to survive more. And even without Noxious its highly unlikely that you die one hit so Flamel is win-win) Garment with Randel Card for swap. Kinda unnecessary but if the Guard procs it will save you from a lot of damage. Weapon is Combat Knife. 10% extra redux makes you to tank a lot of damage from enemies. Best if enchanted with INT or DEX from Malangdo for easier instacast or more masquerade chances Accessories are dependent on player to player. It’s better to use 2 slotted accessories which give DEX or HP. Eg: Upgrade Clip, Orleans Necklace/Glove. Card choices are Erendee Ebecee + Alligator or 2x Alligator or Zerom. Another option is the Evil Spirit Silk Glove which allows an SC to cast Cobweb, the sage spell for another hard disable. That is the best endgame SC Accessory as of now imo. Other options to all this is Glorious Set with 2x Glorious Rings Another build is using a GR card but unless you become freeze immune with 100 hard mdef somehow, there is no point because a frozen SC is a dead SC. Important Buffs Admiral Buffs Soul Link (If an SC is playing without Soul Link, he isn’t playing as an SC) Immunity to dispel, faster movement under chase walk and more healing from ranked white pots, who wouldn’t want that? SC don’t need Sacrament. All of the 3rd job important skills don’t have any fixed cast time which is halved by Sacrament. If you waste the time of your AB to get Sacra you aren’t doing it right because CW and ED are also VCT based skills. The only FCT on the SC skill tree is chase walk, but its cast isn’t high at all to think about reducing it. SC don’t need Odin and Striking. You are a disabler and not a killer. You want to reduce a player to a Poring and not kill him. The humiliation that you do is more important than kill. Dead men tell no tales. Consumables SC is a highly consumable based job. Without eating foods you aren’t amounting to anything on WoE. Listing the following foods to be used on WoE at all times: Siroma Ice Tea (Dex+20) Green Salad (Dex+5) Dropped from plant monsters using Lunakligo Warg Blood Cocktail (Int+20) Honey Herbal Tea (Int+3) Dropped by Dragon Monsters using Draco Egg card Minor Brisket (Vit+20) Immortal Stew (Vit+10) Dropped by Hydrolancer HP Increase Potion Large Undead/Holy Elemental Scroll Redux Potions (Physical and Magical) Speed Potion to chase people who dodge your precast and also to run faster to reach a precast or Emp for breaking. Ranked Slim White potions (Heals at a very high rate, which makes them very useful) Strategy You are the main disabler for your guild. You need to target the following classes: RK: Probably the most easiest class to masq due to them being overweight all the time. And also having moderately low agi and luk. Use Gloomy to equate them to a poring. DB RK fail miserably and so do the SB/IB/HS RK due to spear weapon that they used has 75% damage on medium monsters, and with you running 75% redux that’s even lower damage then you would usually take. RG: Support RG who don’t run a Sacra build are also easy to disable. But its always better to Manhole an RG to prevent him from potting while you kill the players that have been Devoed by the RG Killer RG are tough to masq due to them having high luk if EB type and high str so they don’t usually be overweight. Sorc: Sorc cant dispel SC. (Soul Link Bitch!!) You need to Igno and Weak them to prevent them from dispelling your allies and weak will make them food by removing the default CK and Cranial Valk. Avoid the Arullo and Diamond dust as those statuses make life really bad for you. Geneticist: With the level of redux that you have you won’t die to AD, very easily. A well geared Gene will probably remove like 80% of your HP tops. Ranked slims for the win right? Another tough class to masq due to their high weight. You can dodge AD by shadow forming sometimes and that might not work due to them being Devoed all the time. Sura: Unless its an Asura Strike Sura, you can play around a Sura and his skill delays and to be honest a pure TC sura cant kill you easily, The thing were we loose is the SP drain, but it can be sorted with Royal Jelly. You need to be fast. A sura will use FC after TC to kill. Just keep on potting and you can disable the Sura easily. Again low agi and low luk builds. Pure TC Sura don’t have high strength either so easy target. SC: The SC v/s SC matchup depends on who is faster to Masq. A lot of times I have lost to better SC out there because they had a higher APM then me. You also need to be careful of the SC breaking your emp since its tough to kill that guy since he will cast the Berserk status around the emp to drain your SP. Kagerou/Oboro: Kage removes you from hiding and Oboro can remove your Soul Link(Yes, without Soul Link you become weak then normal) The ninja spells are also kinda irritating due to the mass status spreads all around. There wont be an AB to Lauda you always. Minstrel/Wanderer/Mechanics are kinda easy to masq due to their stat builds focusing on one side of the stat pool on a general basis. When you FSK, you also remove the Soul Link buff from Wanderers and Minstrels. Warlock: Kinda a difficult job to deal with, but also the most easiest class to disable. Shadow Form that class too to reflect the damage and kill them and the Devo as well. These are a few WoE videos from iRO of good SC. This guy is probably the best SC I have seen on all the videos I have seen. Overall, its about the experience from playing WoE day in day out. I learn a lot of new stuff every time I play.
